The Design for Manufacture competition aims to help slow rising construction costs and to contribute to the housebuilding industrys response to climate change.
The competition is creating 10 communities across England, with the results effectively research and development by the housebuilding industry having a major impact across the sector.
Designs now a reality
The competition concept is now being made a reality, with new homes completed on six of the winning sites. All of the homes are meeting the base cost of £785 per square metre or £60,000 and will achieve an EcoHomes Very Good rating, or higher.
